HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

PORTUGAL MTB is an event directed to both amateurs and professionals. The event is intended to all athletes taking into consideration that is important being healthy and have the preparation necessary to an event with this features.

PORTUGAL MTB is an UCI Team Event (teams of 2 athletes) and in it’s competitive aspect it is only allowed to participate in teams. Thereby it’s not allowed to participate individually in the competition. The PORTUGAL MTB team receive often contacts by athletes that haven’t yet team mates and they are looking for one, or even those that would like to do the event individually.

If you want to participate individually, please contact us, we will allow your participation through certain constraints.

The athletes who participate in the PORTUGAL MTB individually aren’t part of the competition and they will not have classifications/timings either from stages or general classifications.

The PORTUGAL MTB team enhance that the event is a Team Competition and the athletes that want to participate individually, can do it in the recreational sense, out of competion.

To participate you have to have at least 19 years old, made till December 31st at the current year that the event take place. The event is open to the most variable range of athletes, realizing that is necessary that each athlete have responsability about their own physical condition.

It’s very important that all athletes have their medical data updated, just as well, done medical exams that alowed verify their physical ability.

PORTUGAL MTB have during the event an official medical of the race, structure that we think is fundamental to monitor all athletes safely. Every single participant will be required to sign a responsability medical term, about their physical condition and are able to perform at the race.

There will be 7 different categories:

  • UCI ELITE MEN. Two men that must be 19 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place. Both must to have a certified UCI Elite licenses, fulfill strictly every UCI rules, competing for the UCI points and the monetary prizes in the general and stages classifications.
  • UCI ELITE WOMEN. Two women that must be 19 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place. Both must to have a certified UCI Elite licenses, fulfill strictly every UCI rules, competing for the UCI points and the monetary prizes in the general and stages classifications.
  • ELITE MEN. Two men that must be 19 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place.
  • ELITE WOMEN. Two women that must be 19 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place.
  • MASTER 30.Two men that must be 30 years or older on the December 31st of the current year which the competition takes place. Those holding Elite category license cannot compete in this category.
  • MASTER 40. Two men that must be 40 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place. Those holding Elite or Master 30 category license cannot compete in this category.
  • MASTER 50. Two men that must be 50 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place. Those holding Elite, Master 30 or Master 40 category license cannot compete in this category.
  • MIXED. Women and man that must be that must be 19 years or older on the December 31st of the current year in which the competition takes place.
